Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 Minimates Review : MODOK Vs Akuma

Hi there!
Here is my review of some Minimates that I got a while back that I have been meaning to review,
that are from the crossover fighting game: Marvel Vs. Capcom 3

Including: MODOK and Akuma

For those of you who don't know what Minimates are:
Minimates are 2 inch Lego-like action figures that have 14 points of articulation, have interchangeable parts, and have various lines like Marvel, Ghost Busters, Halo, and more to choose from.

Anyway find out my thoughts on these minimates after the jump!

The first in this pack we have is Marvel's MODOK
Once an ordinary human, George Tarleton was transformed into the Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing ( M. O. D. O. K.) during an experiment by A.I.M. ( Advanced Idea Mechanics).
With his superhuman calculating ability and his capabilities to preform various attacks against those who might stand against him, he calls himself the Scientist Supreme.
This is a Minimate that fans of the Marvel series of Minimates have been asking for some time and thanks to Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, Here he is in Minimate form!
MODOK is a very unique looking thanks to the sculpted details he has been giving on both the actual minimate itself (which surprisingly is a plain minimate body under that huge head of his) and the accessories.

With such a big head like that, it's probably no surprise that he's so full of himself. xD
Besides that, MODOK's head had a lot of nice details that are painted and sculpted on.
The colors also stand out like the metallic purple with the orange with his brown hair and skin tone face and are nicely applied.

He also come with accessories too like his Hover Chair and the Smoke/Flame base you can place the chair on which I think is really cool! Or hot. Ah! Whatever! It's neat and adds some playability and display-ability. Also since he uses a normal minimate body under that big head of his, he still has a good amount of articulation even if his head hinders it slightly. Also it's a little tricky to get him to stand up on his own (but not impossible!) with out falling over thanks to his big head.

Overall I think he's a fun and colorful minimate that would make a great and unique addition to any minimate collection.

Next up from this two pack is character from Capcom's super popular fighting game series: Street Fighter.
It's Akuma!
An incredibly strong fighter who uses the same fighting style as Ryu and is the one responsible for the death of his brother Goken (the master of Ryu and Ken). Now he seeks to lead Ryu down the path of the Dark Hadou (which is a variation to the teachings of his brother)in order to make him a worthy opponent.
While he may look similar to Ryu outfit-wise, Akuma looks quite different and has more detail than Ryu in my opinion. The slip over chest piece is very detailed with the rope tied in a knot around his waist, has a Japanese symbol (Kanji) meaning "Sky/Heaven" painted on, and has his prayer beads around his neck.

Also his chest piece (like Ryu's) doesn't restrict his movement and has plenty articulation.

Akuma's Hair is very spiky and has a ton of detail compared to his older version that was released in the early 2000's in the Street Fighter and Darkstalkers series. The sculpted detailing in his hand are really cool with how it looks like he has rope wrapped around his hands. The painted details are nicely done on both his face and chest (which is slightly hidden thanks to the beads) and the sandals are a neat too. Though looking at it closely now I noticed that it appears that he has two right feet. Not sure if it's only happened to mine or it's like that with all of them but yeah I must say I find it to be odd but not the worst thing in the world
As for his accessories: Akuma comes with an Hadouken Blast that slips right over the hand and arm to attach. Also has two clear stands: One for the figure (I really like that they give these since it's great for display and I can't get enough of them) and one for the Hadouken Blast (which can be used in more ways than one).
AKUMA Through the Ages: 2006 (Toys R Us  Four Pack ), 2006 (Toys R Us Four Pack) 2012 (Toys R Us Exclusive)
Overall I really like this minimate and it's very playable and articulate even with all the highly sculpted pieces.
It'll make a great addition to any minimate collection (especially Street Fighter).

My thoughts on this Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 Minimates two pack is that it is a great set with fan favorite characters from both Marvel and Capcom series that are nicely detailed and unique looking, come with neat accessories, and are quite articulate.
So if you like any of the characters or the game or minmates in general, I would recommend you pick up this pack at your local Toys R Us or online retailer.
